As you move through the webquest, you will explore the different types of map projections, you will learn about their origins, their strengths and weaknesses, their uses, etc. You will explore videos, interactive websites and links to learn about it.
You will have to match and collect information about several map
projections on a table (don’t worry,
the table and the links you need to look at will be supplied in next step, in
the “process” section).
All this research will enable you to build your own criteria. Therefore,
you will be able to decide which map projection is the most appropriate according
to your purpose. You will have to help several people and organisations to decide
which map projection is the most suitable to them by answering challenging questions
Then, you will have to reach an agreement with your classmate on which of the
map projections you would like to study in depth. This is a very important
decision because you will need to create an infographic about the map projection you have chosen (using Canva) and finally present it orally in front of
the class to explain your discoveries.
At the end of the process you will be able to ask the key question.
Are world maps wrong?
Are you ready to start this amazing adventure? Hurry up, go to process!
